Definition
A questionnaire to assess personality traits.
Purpose
This measure is used to score an individual for the five factors of personality, which in turn are predictive of personality disorders. Most personality disorders are prevalent in a small percentage of the general population and often co-occur with other mental disorders, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and eating disorders. Some personality disorders, such as antisocial personality disorder, borderline personality disorder and schizotypal personality disorder demonstrate a familial pattern with a greater risk among first-order relatives of affected individuals when compared to the general population (APA, 2000).
