Protocol - Pain - Body Map
Description
Individuals are presented with an image of a body and asked to indicate at which of the marked thirty-five locations they have felt persistent or recurrent pain for the last 3 months or longer (chronic pain). Alternatively, they can indicate no chronic pain.
Specific Instructions
The Michigan Body Map is useful in general populations to assess persistent or recurrent pain over the last 3 months. The PISCES Body Map is more relevant for acute SCD pain during the past 24 hours.
Availability
Protocol
On the image below, CHECK ALL areas of your body where you have felt persistent or recurrent pain present for the last 3 months or longer (chronic pain).
If you do not have chronic pain check here: [ ] No Chronic Pain

Definition
The Michigan Body Map is a self-report measure to assess body areas of chronic pain in the past three months.
Purpose
Body maps have been used for many decades to assess the location of pain complaints. The body map can also quantify the degree of widespread body pain when assessing for centralized pain features (e.g., fibromyalgia-like presentation).
Keywords
Michigan Body Map, MBM, bone and joint, arthritis, fibromyalgia, widespread pain
